Purple Haze Kantha Quilt
Kantha quilts originate from Bangladesh. Women in this area have practiced Kantha embroidery since ancient times, using discarded cloth to make a blanket using a straight running stich that is traditional Bengali. The quilts you see today have evolved but still have the same belief behind them - that the re-cycled cloth has protective qualities. These quilts are made from discarded fabric, including old saris, stitched together featuring the running stitch mentioned above.
Your Kantha quilt can be used in so many ways; draped over your bed, sofa or chair to add a real pop of colour, sit on it to brighten up a picnic or wrap it around you to keep you warm in the winter months in front of the tv or outside in the summer evenings when the sun dips.
The pictures show the two sides of the quilt.
These quilts are easy to clean and can be washed in the washing machine.
